Teabag boxes contain MORE germs than a toilet seat - SHOCK study of office hygiene reveals

BOXES of teabags contain 17 times more bacteria than a toilet seat, according to a new study of cleanliness in the workplace

Research by hygiene experts at Initial Washroom Hygiene found that boxes or tins of teabags in the average workplace contain bacterial readings of a massive 3,785.

A normal bacterial reading for a loo seat is just over 220, meaning boxes or tins of teabags - and tins of coffee - have 17 times more germs

We all worry about germs on our toilet seats and are meticulous about keeping them clean, yet there are 7 household items generally regarded as “cleaner” that hold more germs. 

These are

  • sponges,
  • sinks,
  • TV remotes,
  • handbagss
  • mobile phones/tablets,
  • keyboards
  • showerheads. 

Keep them clean and keep sanitising those hands!
