Five places dirtier than your toilet seat!

Five places dirtier than your toilet seat!

You could be (rightly) forgiven for thinking the toilet seat was the dirtiest place in your home. But, surprisingly, it isn’t the ‘germ-iest’ of household items. Prepare to take action!

  • Your phone

Is your phone dirtier than your toilet seat? Well the constant combination of handling and heat means germs love your new iPhone 5. It will come into contact with more parts of the body and a wider range of bacteria than toilet seats, yet we barely ever think to ‘wash’ our phone. They have been found to be up to 500 times more germ-riddled than the toilet seat…

  • Your TV remote

Think about it – what do you when you have the flu? Watch TV?

Do you catch up with the soaps on your TV in the kitchen? Whilst cooking dinner? Everyone in the home touches the TV remote meaning germs will be passed along every time you change channel.

  • Carpets

Children love rolling around on the floor and there is not much you can do to stop them. According to Men’s Health, carpets can be 4,000 times dirtier than the toilet seat. ‘Rugs are botanical and zoological parks for germs’ microbiologist Dr Phillip Tierno told the magazine. Our Instant Hand Sanitiser kills 99.9999% of germs and is 100% safe for children.

  • Kitchen Sponge

On average a kitchen sponge holds an amazing 200,000 times more bacteria than the loo (But don’t tell the kids – that’s just another reason not to do the washing up). Change them regularly (the sponge – not the kids) and avoid leaving it to fester at the bottom of the sink.

  • Keyboard

Computer keyboards (especially communal ones) harbour all sorts of nasties. Here is potentially the most extensive guide ever compiled to cleaning your computer. Or – if you haven’t got 3 hours to spare – use a Post-It note to collect crumbs, use an anti-bacterial wipe on the keys and keep a bottle of EcoHydra next to where you work.

Although we might not recommend dousing your new iPhone 5 in Instant Hand Sanitser we do recommend you use it on your hands! It quickly kills and stops the spread of 99.9999% of common bacteria whilst keeping hands silky and soft.
